An adult Bald Eagle, banded as “S04″, a five year old bird originating from New York State, chews on a freshly captured fish. Shot over the Susquehanna River in Maryland on Saturday 11-12-2011. I had to hand hold for this shot because the tripod wouldn’t give me the angle upward that I needed.

The juvenile bird is a New Jersey bird as indicated by the green leg band. I wasn’t able to read the number though.

Shot in the backyard pond over at my parent’s house with my Sigma 50-500mm lens. It’s the lens I use for most of my bird shots but it works out suprisingly well for close up shots like this from about eight feet away. Manual focus using liveview and the Zacuto Z-Finder Pro 3X.
