Monthly Archives: January 2011 This schoolhouse was built in 1823 by Philip Shafer, an immigrant from Heidelberg Germany. Philip taught in the schoolhouse until he was 60 years old and is said to have lived to be 105. I found this horse on a farm in Union County Pennsylvania during a covered bridge photography trip back on 4-2-2010. He was a very friendly and curious fellow.
