Book’s Covered Bridge (Perry County, PA)

The story of Book’s Covered Bridge is one of rebirth and triumph. Built in 1884, the bridge has also been known as Kaufman’s Covered Bridge. Over the years it fell into disrepair on several occasions. In 1992 it was closed to traffic after an overloaded truck caused the bridge to break. It was reopened in...

“A man builds a fine house; and now he has a master, and a task for life: he is to furnish, watch, show it, and keep it in repair, the rest of his days.” ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

This is an old farm house located on the corner of Passmore and Hoffmansville Roads in Bechtelsville, PA just north of Grandview Speedway. Up to that point, the sky was pretty much clear and blue but shortly...
