Rolled hay bales stacked in a building that once was storage for snow plows and road salt for the Virginia Transportation Authority alongside route 11 in Edinburg, Virginia. Rolled hay bales like these are often stored away for use in feeding livestock later in the winter when the ground is snow covered and grazing pastures unavailable.
I shot this as seven hand-held exposure bracketed RAW frames at 1/3 stop variance, then combined into an HDR and tone mapped in Photomatix Pro. I chose HDR for this shot because it was very overcast with light rain falling and the available light was just plain crap. HDR allowed me to recapture some of those golden tones in the hay even under bad lighting conditions.
