Spring is for Squirrels

Squirreltime @ Longs Park

I stopped in to check on things at Longs Park Pond in Lancaster, PA while I was out shooting covered bridges on Saturday 5-2-2009. What I found were several Mallards, a handful of Canada Geese and some Squirrels. I was looking to see if the Green Heron had returned this year and if any of the resident turtles were basking on the rocks on the shoreline like they have been known to do. No Turtles or Herons were anywhere to be seen but I was astonished by the amount of trash that has been thrown into the pond.

Longs Park has a very ample supply of both trash cans and recycle cans available, all with closing lids that don’t allow the trash to blow around in the wind so I can only attribute the trash in the pond to the carelessness of Humans. How hard is it to take your soda bottle or your bread wrapper and deposit it properly in a trash can ? Come on people ! There is no second planet, this is the only one we have. Take a second and do the right frigging thing for once ! Jeez…
