So I ended up photographing Eagles in Maryland again today. My intention was a return trip down to the National Zoo in Washington D.C. but Hurricane Gustav changed my plans but not in the way that you would think.
I’m a weather junkie. I have premium memberships for both the Weather Channel and Weather Underground web sites so when weather news hits, I get sucked into the TV like that little girl in the Poltergeist movie. I ended up watching the Weather Channel until 3 AM waiting to see when they were going to tie Jim Cantori to a tree, hand him the waterproof microphone and stylish weather channel baseball cap and say “good luck Jim, we’ll see you in the morning ! (followed my hushed snickering while the crew beats a hasty retreat back to their safe hotel rooms)”.
So much for leaving at 4:00 AM to drive down to the zoo. It was a really slow day for Eagles to top it all off. Hopefully we get some rain this week and the water levels in the River increase.
