National Zoo Photos 8-3-2008

My first trip to the National Zoo was awesome.  That place was great.  It was hot as hell and the zoo involves a lot of walking.  I think I sweat off five pounds while I was there.  They had a few exhibits closed down for upgrades and the Elephant Trail was completely being reconstructed so no Elephants unfortunately.  The highlight for me had to be feeding time in the stork cage and the majesty of the Lions and Tigers.  Only got to see one of the two Pandas they had there and she was sprawled out on her back looking like she was recovering from a heavy weekend of binge drinking and bamboo eating.   The zoo has a ton of volunteers who are there to answer any questions and they give guided tours and lectures about the animals at many of the exhibits.  If you are looking for a great place to take the family, I’d certainly recommend a trip to the zoo.   Admission is free and you only have to pay for parking in of their three lots.   For information on the zoo, visit their web site at http://nationalzoo.si.edu/

Click here to go to the photo gallery.  I’ll be posting a bunch more photos as time allows this coming week.   This was my first time shooting at a zoo and the first time ever seeing most of these animals so I don’t think I did too badly.  I still need a little work in some areas but I made notes for the next time I go back.
